Fresh is so much better and this literally took me 25 minutes to make. No added sugar and the perfect snack. Enjoy on its own, on top of a toasted muffin, pancake topper or layer with a parfait.
8 medium sized apples
1 Tablespoon of cinnamon
A dash of nutmeg
¼ - ½ Cup of water
Peel apples and roughly cut up. Add to a saucepan with ¼ cup of water. Season with 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, a dash of nutmeg. Add ¼ Cup more water if the liquid dries out.
Bring to a boil and simmer letting the juices release for about 15 minutes till fruit breaks down and liquids reduce and glaze. Depending on the number and size of apples, cooking time may take a little longer. The apples will become visibly softer and the liquid thicker as the natural sugars release and glaze.
Use an immersion blender to roughly blend for chunky sauce, more for smoother consistency. A food processor or blender will also work.
